Linhof Technika V

This camera may look too complicated and indeed it is. Anyway, if I would have to choose only one camera to have for whatever circunstance, it would be either a point and shoot or a Linhof Tecknika. All the others fall short in their ambition.
This is a camera intended to the most carefull image control, with many movements of lens board and back, but as well as hendheld photography. That could easily make it a bad compromise but is is so well designed and finished that one can actually have both with reliability and outstanding quality. Case you want to know about it I sugest you to go to    Large Format Photography pages.

Here I will quickly talk about my experiences with this Linhof and acessories that I bought along with it.

This is a lens board with belows

One can use a Schneider 65 mm in 4 x 5 inches. But this focal is so short for the camera body that this special adapter turns out to be a must. By using it one can lock the lens board not in the external part of the rail but inside the camera body. Then the focus is adjusted by turning the nob on the top.

This is a wide angle 90mm

Interested in portraiture I bought afterwards this Komura 300 mm.

It is just about the right size not being too heavy for a folding camera.
